The Chupacabras
Part 3 - Chupa Sighted in Chile
Children have face to
face encounter with the Chupacabras in Chile!
SOURCE: "La Estrella del Loa" (newspaper) Thursday, February
1, 2001
So as not to forget
the details, the kids drew the enigmatic entity on a wall. "It didn't have a
nose or elbows, but it had small arms, legs that were thick on top and thin
on the bottom," they say.
Not only in some sci-fi films is it possible to find links between children and aliens or some sort of unknown creature. Similar things also happen in real life which lead us pay greater detail to such unfathomable mysteries as the alleged presence of the Chupacabras in El Loa province, Chile.
For
such is the case of three youngsters in a remote section of Calama's Independencia
Norte settlement, who were paralyzed with fear after facing a beast whose description
matches that of the creature which has raided the farmsteads of the Chilean
desert, killing cattle, frightening people to death and plunging UFO researchers
into confusion.
Gabriel Herrera, Miguel Salvo and Jorge have told their stories separately and
with surprising similarity: they recently saw this extraordinary animal (repeatedly
considered by ufologists and experts as some sort of alien) jump, hide and
escape.
"It was about a meter tall and it was sitting there (in an inner courtyard of the dwelling). It jumped effortlessly when my brother opened the door. It scared us--it had spines running down its back, it was hairy and grey. We went to tell my mommy, thinking it was a rabbit. That's when it got lost, and we all searched for it." says the first witness. This account was ratified by Miguel, who added new and valuable information. "It didn't have a nose or elbows, but it had skinny arms, and legs that were thick on top and skinny on the bottom. It jumped and hid under a pickup truck."
Incredible though it may seem, the experience does not end there, since the boys came across a new discovery which is perhaps as important as the first. However, the details of this discovery are in the hands of a UFO researcher who is keeping details under wraps to avoid any delays in his research.

ACCOUNT OF CHUPACABRAS ENCOUNTER
Family made casts of prints left behind by Chupacabras on their property

Patricia
Valdivia, a resident of the village of La Banda de Calama, provided a revealing
account of her encounter with the mythic Chupacabras after it appeared at her
doorstep at Lincan #1938. The resident told that she heard some strange
noises at approximately one o'clock in the morning, while she engaged in housework.
"It sounded like cats fighting;
after hearing an impact, I walked toward the door, where I heard a strange howl
and very fast, heavy breathing." At that precise moment, the woman lifted a
curtain on a window and saw three cats, more paralyzed than a photograph, spaced
at approximately a meter from each other. She then looked to the side and "there
it was, sitting in front of the door. When it saw me, it jumped immediately
over the outside wall and lost itself in the darkness."
She
noted that the "strange being" measured between 60 and 70 centimetres in a seated
position, while long legs protruded from its body, which was covered in leaden-coloured
hair. [Casts of its prints] were retrieved by Jaime Ferrer, who has been researching
the Chupacabras case for some months now.
The woman added that the "animal" made a strange growling sound which caused the windowpanes to rattle - a situation that repeated itself when the "Chupacabras" jumped to escape from the location.
Ms. Valdivia noted that
there are several animals on her property, including pigs, sheep, chickens and
canaries, but that these have not been attacked.
She
pointed out that this is not the first time that the Chupacabras has visited
her premises. "Some time ago, my son heard similar noises. When he looked through
the window, he saw the animal with a younger one next to it."
She added that when they went out to look, only prints of various sizes were left behind, leading her to believe that the being had offspring. Her account, told while she made a drawing of the creature, is one more in the series of Chupacabras sightings in this sector of Calama.
Another
Weird Creature Spotted
in Calama
A
new creature was sighted
in a rural district of Calama, a city in northern Chile that has been the scene
of many Chupacabra sightings during the past year (2000-2001). Residents claimed that the
new creature killed several dogs in the barrios of La Banda and Villa San Rafael.
"The residents remain fearful of a creature they have described as 'unknown' but left behind clear evidence of its passing." "First the people heard 'aircraft noises' passing overhead, then they saw 'the appearance of a strange creature measuring 50 centimetres (20 inches) in height, humped and leaden (grey) in colour. While looking for traces of the animal, they have found several balls of strange hair, which have been collected for subsequent analysis. Footprints of the creature were found on the ground" in Villa San Rafael.
"They have also heard screams coming from dogs 'as if they were being killed because they (the screams) were truly terrifying."
"They further stated that
the predator generates some type of energy that affects human beings and must
coincide with the energy it needs to levitate."
In La Banda, "other residents did not conceal their suspicions regarding the large number of dead dogs turning up at that location."
"The other day (Wednesday,
January 24, 2001) they found two dogs slain at night and their carcasses had
disappeared by morning.
"I was surprised to find traces of the animals' having
been dragged since there were hairs found on the ground," one resident said.
Not to be outdone, the Chupacabras continued their year-long rampage in the Calama region.
"In recent days, the name of the 'mythic Chupacabras' has been heard more and more. Dozens of paranormal researchers have bought plane tickets to the 'Land of Sun and Copper' (Calama) to verify on-site the appearance of strange creatures. and the prints left behind on a small farm in La Banda de Calama.'"
Hair Samples Found At Chupacabras Attack Site
Arturo
Menay, Radio Coya director, in the city of Maria Elena, Region II, north of
Chile, decided to send the body of a dead cat attacked by a Chupacabras to a
veterinarian to perform an autopsy and to analyze some hairs that appeared between
its pads. The veterinarian, Ariel Cortéz Aracena of Antofagasta city,
made the autopsy, and certified that the cat had been sucked by a kind of tube
that penetrated the cat's skin toward the inside, attacking the heart of the
victim and sucking all its blood. According to the professional, the death
had been produced by a tube attached to the thorax of the cat. The feline, undoubtedly,
had passed away due to an acute anaemia. It was not caused by the attack of any
known domestic animal.
We must emphasize that
most of the sucked cats, about 70 in the city of Maria Elena, were all females. On the analysis of the
hairs found in its pads, veterinarian Mr. Cortéz Aracena, determined
that they are of a unfamiliar species, but with a context similar to
camels, without being of the family of the camelidaes.
Mr. Claudio Castellon, director of the Maria Elena Museum, analyzed the hairs and reached the conclusion that the hair did not belong to any known animal in the area. Samples of these hairs have been sent for analysis in laboratories in the U.S.A.. Also, the Spanish UFO investigator and writer, J. J. Benitez, visiting Miami, took hair samples to Spain, where he promised they would be analyzed.
Residents
of La Banda state that the strange noises have been heard in recent nights.
A woman who declined to be identified revealed that "Last night (Thursday, January
25, 2001) my children were playing in the paddock and they suddenly came running
back home, frightened after having heard strange footsteps coming from inside
the yard. They asked me to please believe them when they said that something
was moving around the place, and refused to go outdoors again."
She
said that people often visit the community offering money in exchange for the
silence of those residents who have been affected by the Chupacabras. Hair
samples were found at the site where the creatures had attacked, leaving local
residents in the grip of fear. They have formed a group and all of them, in
one way or another, have had contact with either the Chupacabras or with unidentified
flying objects.
Sanra, one of the leaders of the group, which includes ten residents of Calama, claims having seen the Chupacabra near the Top Star Bridge "around midnight or slightly later, it's hairy and can stand on two legs when it wants to. It goes out alone often, and there could be more than one of them out there." "Furthermore, the rest of her friends have not only seen the Chupacabras, but also UFOs in the vicinity of the local airport." "Specifically, four (UFOs) flying in formation, and we know they weren't airplanes because of the speed at which they were seen to fly," she added.
Chupacabras
attack a families home in Calama!
As reported in the Chilean newspaper La Estrella del Lia for January 20, 2001, "Strange animals
stage massive attack." Many thanks to Scott Corrales, author of 'los libros
Chupacabras and Other Mysteries y Forbidden Mexico, y tambien Gloria Coluchi
para eso articulo de diario.'
Four Chupacabras attacked a family's home in a rural district of Calama, Chile early in the morning of Friday, January 19th, 2001, killing six chickens and a rooster.
A family from the barrio
O'Higgins (neighbourhood) lived through several frightening hours after having
encountered four very strange beasts in their backyard. Neighbours are fearful
that it could represent a mass attack by so-called Chupacabra creatures. Elena
W.,
who lives in Calle Sargento Aldea 3445 (street) was awakened by the noise of her chickens that were kept in a cage in her
backyard. But there were no words to describe her astonishment when she went
out to see what was going on and found herself facing four creatures working
in unison to open the birdcage.
"At first I thought they were dogs, although I was startled by the fact that
they were larger and more hairy". She said she did nothing at first but
merely stared at them as two of the beings worked to open the gate
'"while the others watched, as if trained or had thought patterns similar to
humans."
She remarked that, overcoming her fear, she grabbed a club and tried to scatter them away, but the animals' attitude left her petrified. They passed by her so quickly "that I didn't see them running, I only felt the wind left in their wake as they went past my side." Sra. W. said, "she screamed for her husband to help her, He ran out of the house and after the creatures, but he couldn't find any trace of the immense animals when he got to the end of the street." "It was all so strange, as if the critters had vanished into thin air or had been teleported to a different location.'"
After the commotion, the entire family investigated the henhouse and found six dead chickens and one dead rooster, all of which bore the tell tale marks of the mythic Chupacabras. "The birds were not devoured but they were left dry (drained of blood) with a single wound under the wings. Furthermore, the pen was well-secured and, to judge from the creatures' size, they would have brought the whole structure crashing down if they'd tried to put a foot on the roof."
She claimed that at 3:30 a.m. the chickens were still alive "because the rooster crowed and we were watching movies until four o'clock in the morning, and we still can't explain how the creatures got into the enclosure," Sra. W. said "then they killed the birds noiselessly and abandoned the premises. It could only be that they flew." But the strangest thing for the family was that their three guard dogs were not even stirred by the presence of the four intruders in the backyard. "Only when I screamed for my husband did the oldest of the dogs wake up to defend me, without the poor thing being able to strike at anything."
"Mysterious Agency " offers witnesses 'hush money'
to buy silence about the Chupacabras
As reported in
the Chilean newspaper La Estrella de Calama for January 6, 2001, "Agency offers
money in exchange for silence on Chupacabras. Thanks to Scott Corrales, author
of 'los libros Chupacabras and Other Mysteries y Forbidden Mexico, a tambien
Gloria Coluchi para eso articulo de diario.'
Peasants affected by the
animal deaths attributed to the Chupacabras have been visited in past weeks by
'unidentified agencies' willing to purchase their silence. The Chupacabras continue
to cause unexplained phenomena and 'backlashes' amongst the populations of the various
rural sections of Calama, a city in northern Chile which has been host to many
UFO and Chupacabra sightings recently.
"One Internet website" in Chile "discovered the fact that 'a mysterious agency' is offering money in exchange for silence." The source, who asked to remain anonymous, said "several strange noises have been heard on their rooftops during the course of past evenings, aside from the sense of fear conveyed by these incidents."
"They revealed that the lack of street lights in certain areas makes the situation all the more disturbing. Dogs whine when they begin to hear footsteps on the roof, and a strong smell of decay can be perceived throughout the entire day." "The peasants noted that they have again started to lose animals, but claim having received money to keep quiet, especially about missing cattle, to avoid any public disturbance." "Furthermore, some of the affected farmers claim to have received cash from 'unidentified agencies' willing to 'pay' them a certain amount for such animals but in exchange for their silence. Some are told that that it's a loan they can use to acquire new cattle; and others are told that they can use it as they please, provided they don't report these events."
Between the multiple theories that have occurred to try to explain the appearance of the Chupacabras in Chile, one of the most commented, is the one that involves Space Agency NASA. The first rumours spoke of the personnel presence of this agency in Calama. Many people, even got to say that some people with foreign accents, had offered money to give them chupacabras if they captured them. But the rumour did not stop being a rumour. In the middle of May 2000, there began to appear the first information that spoke of the capture of three chupacabras. The Pudahuel Radio of Santiago, was the main informant of this fact. "Three beings of unknown origin (chupacabras) were captured by military personnel in the environs of the Mine Radomiro Tomic, in the city of Calama. The beings were taken in a special container, brought to Chile by NASA ", said the news. He even spoke of the death of a conscript of the Army during the capture.
In
order to be transferred around the area, the agents even brought in a N-187-CH
helicopter. An important national airline confirmed the presence
of a helicopter with those characteristics. What brought the helicopter to
the attention of these, was that the apparatus had two rotors ( a Chinook), which were
not common in the country, because this type of aircraft serves to transfer
a great amount of weight. According to the information, the three chupacabras
captured were taken to the United States to make studies.
The history of a genetic
experiment, made by NASA in the North zone of Chile would have begun before
the 1960s. It is important to remember that at that time, the United States
had a great interest in the minerals of Chuquicamata. For that reason, there
are some people who maintain that a joint genetic project with the creation
of an experimental biological weapon could have been developed.
In a press conference,
the group Ovnivisión Chile solicited to the military administrations
and government that denied or will not confirm this information. Until now,
an official version does not exist on this fact.
Alleged Chupacabras Skull Subjected To Scientific Scrutiny
"The animal was hunted by a peasant who preserved its skull as a trophy. The skull subsequently fell into the hands of researchers."
October 30, 2000 (Terra) Scientists of the Universidad Austral de Chile are dumbfounded by an enigmatic animal skull, since they are at a loss to ascertain to what animal or species it belongs. The animal was apparently killed last January in the Arique Sector of Antihue (Tenth Region) by a farmer who had reported the strange deaths of a large number of birds, particularly geese. Last May, the same farmer reported that he had killed a strange creature.
The hunter preserved the head as a trophy and cast the rest of the body into a river. He later reported that since that day, he hears the sound of distant howling in the evening. It is his belief that the source of the howling is the lonely female that accompanied the animal and continues prowling the region in search of her mate. The skull was ultimately delivered to Universidad Austral. However, after four months of intense research, in which DNA samples were connected, it now turns out that the skull has left scientists dumbfounded, as they have been unable to determine the exact nature of the beast in question.
The discovery of this species has been qualified as "very interesting" by the scientific community itself, because "we are dealing with a medium-sized animal which would have gone unnoticed by science for approximately one century."
UPDATE (1/5/2001)
In a letter received by us from Chilean researcher Liliana Torres, she mentions that Universidad Austral in Santiago de Chile had offered an expert opinion on the structure, which belonged to a predator shot in Arique, Valdivia, in Chile's 10th Region, on January 3, 2000. A peasant shot one of two specimens, saved its head, and delivered it to the Diario Austral newspaper, which subsequently turned it over to the University. A team of five doctors/zoologists, veterinarians and clinicians of the Servicio Agrícola y Ganadero (SAG) conducted the study and was unable to deliver a definite answer as to its origin. Doctors Roberto Schlater and Rosario Ulbrich compared it to the skull of a Chilla Fox, but quickly noticed the differences between the molars and an upper bone located between the eye sockets that is lacking from any known species of fox.
Drs. Milton Gallardo and Freddy Mondaca concurred, noting that the only foxes in Chile are the Chilla, Culpeo and Chiloe varieties, whose skulls do not remotely coincide with the one found in Arique. "This could even be a fourth species of fox that is unknown to us," Dr. Gallardo is quoted as saying.
Universidad Austral's four month study, which included DNA sampling has left scientists startled and surprised, writes Ms. Torres in her letter. Experts have been unable to identify the animal in question and even more surprising is the fact that another specimen is on the prowl near Antilhue, not far from where the first one was shot.
Calama ufologist Jaime Ferrer has been collecting Chupacabra and Mataperro hair samples and taking plaster casts of the strange footprints. His investigation is continuing.
